Share with us a little about you.
Originally from Chicago and straight out of the desert, this is the first time I’ve ever lived by the ocean and it is sick! I love everything about the ocean because at this point, I’ve mostly just seen the really good side of it. I’m an artist and a product designer living a few blocks from the water in South Oceanside. I feel like it’s a waste of an opportunity to live this close to the water and not get in and do something. It might turn out that surfing is not for me and maybe there’s some other water activity that captivates me but I’m not gonna know until I get in there and find out. So I’ve been playing around on a Costco soft top trying to figure out what it’s all about under the supervision of some very cool new friends.
I love all the people I’ve met since I moved here. Beach people are the absolute best! The vibe is genuinely so amazing and I want MORE! More new friends that become good friends, more adventures! More death reel memories that remind you that you l-i-v-e-d. I’m gonna stop before I sound like one of carved signs from HomeGoods.

Hi Jenn, Welcome to SurfOutlook's surf community!
You are right. Living near the ocean should never be something taken for granted. Surfing isn't just a sport, it's a lifestyle.
I highly recommend taking surfing lessons. Surfing is a very difficult sport to learn. If a friend is kind enough to show you the roaps, keep that friend! :)
