My life has revolved around the outdoors, but I have always been a surfer first and foremost. I was a 1970s outlaw pool skateboarder, a 1980s 1st generation snowboarder when boards were made of wood, and in the late 1980s and early 1990s, a river surfer on the Lunch Counter rapid on the Snake River in Wyoming. I retired from a 30 plus years as an early childhood special education teacher mostly on the Windward side of the island of Oahu. I surf, ocean kayak, hike with my Oahu native wife Janice and the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club.
