So I was just wondering - if you had stitches in your head (only 4 and not that bad) would you still surf against doctor's orders? I didn't and am still not even after they are out. The doctor told me that I needed to wait a few more days. I'm incredibly frustrated but I figured getting an infection on the head would be really brutal. Had the stitches been on my leg or arm I wouldn't even think twice about it and would have already been back in the water. I guess since I'm a bit older - and allegedly wiser - I am just being cautious. So what about you? Would you surf? How long would you wait?

Thanks Scott - the only extra added thing is that I have hubby freaking out if I don't at least act like I am trying to take care of myself. Being quite a bit over 30, he's not happy when I'm still acting like I'm 20. I promised one more day and no matter what it looks like on Tuesday - this girl is headed out!

I'll start of with this, "Damn it Jim! I'm not a doctor, I'm a surfer". That being said,

I stitched my own head up (with the help of a friend) when I was in Bali with crazy glue (its waterproof too) after hitting the reef at Padang Padang. It would of required about 4 or 5 stitches. I stayed out for 2 days then surfed again.

I have a very non-noticeable thin scar on my forehead now. You have to look close. The crazy glue and the help of my friend did an excellent job.

Bottom line... I'd apply lots of sunscreen on it and head out!
